d Favorite Moments c

From the night of our wedding party, Saturday September 14th, as remembered by Christin almost a week later (in reverse chronological order).

Last words I said to Josh before falling asleep, "Yep, we did everything right."

Drunk guy on the street shouting "WALL STREET!" at Josh as we walked back to the hotel at 4:00 in the morning. (He has no idea.)

Zoe trying to maintain her cool outside The Counting Room while battling a fierce case of the hiccups and asking me 5 times how to get home.

Nancy's drunken goodbye, which I don't quite remember but I think went something like "You did it! You're doing it! You're... Fuck yeah! That's right, girl! Woo!"

Tikva excitedly asking Zoe "How does it feel now that your sister is married?!"

Standing outside The Counting Room when a random drunk woman ran up to me screaming "ARE YOU THE MARRIED LADY??!!?!" She gave me a very big hug and told me she'd see me inside. (I don't think I saw her inside.)

Being the last person on the dance floor with Nick, dancing to some funk song neither of us knew the words to, while he filled it in with his own lyrics - "Beautiful bride! She's a beautiful bride! It's a beautiful bride!" etc...

Reminiscing about Tallahassee with my cousin Sami and her friend Lindsay. TALLAHASSEE!!!

Britta stepping on my very long dress on the dance floor while trying to teach me how to dance like a pro. Me drunkenly trying to explain that I'd planned to get the dress shortened anyway.

Andrea taking matters into her own hands and rolling up and removing the rug from the dance floor.

Britta and Brian cutting the aforementioned rug like nobody's business.

Stephen and Steve pointing out that the puddle I'd just walked through was actually piss. Me trying to explain that I'd planned to get the dress shortened anyway.

Almost walking off the dance floor in protest of Love Shack, a song by a band I love but that I've come to associate with bad wedding DJs. (Fortunately everyone else's enthusiasm kept me on the floor and I was happily surprised when the DJ at least had the decency to play the non radio-edit version.)

Stephen walking onto the dance floor and theatrically presenting a tray of drinks to the crowd. (The first time ;)

Walking down the stairs in The Counting Room while MGMT was playing and thinking "Oh, thank god, the music doesn't suck here." (No, we didn't have a backup plan :)

Zane suggesting, when we got to The Counting Room and I realized I didn't have my ID to get in, that if we'd gotten married in Texas, Josh would just be able to "speak" for me. My sister yelling "She just got married!" at the bouncer asking for my ID.

Tim McNerney showing up in drag and sheepishly looking around the bar for us from behind a feathered fan. (Ok, so this actually happened before we got to the bar, but I wish I had been there to see him!)

Going up to our hotel room to change my shoes to find little Cyprus and Otthin having a baby party.

Watching the flower arrangement in the corner slowly start to fill up with wishes.

The. Cake. OMG WTF? Wow. The cake.

All of my family telling me what great friends we have.

Everyone telling me my Aunt Jean is their new best friend.

Seeing my dad and my brother reconnect with my Aunt Jean and cousins Caroline and Sami for the first time in at least two decades.

Melissa and Mason explaining to my dad what "furries" are. My dad telling them about the time he drove out to San Francisco in the 60s in a VW bus.

My new mother-in-law Claudia pointing out my new Aunt Haven's beautiful vintage Dior necklace. Me asking her what I need to do to inherit it.

Witnessing the totally laid-back way Josh Klein took over the MCing duties. (Ditto on Hulda re: baby duties.)

The unauthorized toasts. No, all of the toasts! (You guys made us feel so loved :)

Andrea's unauthorized interjections during the unauthorized toasts.

The unauthorized sparklers. (Seriously, I don't think we would have any pics of this event at all if it weren't for the sparklers. The room was too dark!)

My 12 year old nephew texting with his girlfriend all through dinner.

The pork. OMG! The pork!

Going into the bathroom and seeing the corkscrew on the counter next to the sink and thinking "It's really to early for this crowd to be getting into this kind of trouble", right before the bartender walked out of the stall.

Telling Alice and Gregg that the videos they made of our friend Dan's wedding made me cry. Gregg responding "good!"

Asking my cousin Caroline about her first tour of New York. Her responding "we didn't think we'd like New York THIS much!!!"

Saying "hi" to every single person at least once before we sat down to eat. (Turns out it's true - 50 guests really is the perfect number!)

Seeing all of our guy friends decked out in jackets and ties. (Except for the Teva wearers - you know who you are! You still looked great though ;)

Someone asking me who my mom was, thinking that she was my sister.

Seeing all of our lady friends looking gorgeous.

Oysters!

Being treated like royalty by the hotel staff every time I walked into or out of a room.

Asking the staff to turn up the heaters and turn down the music "just a smidge." (Having parties is so much more fun when you don't actually have to do any of the work!)

Walking into that gorgeous dining room all dolled up and thinking, "Wow, this is MY fabulous party I'm walking into!"

Seeing Josh in his custom made suit and thinking "Damn, my husband looks good!"
